CREEKSIDE CRAFTIES

Papergirls and Boys were on the scene at the Creekside Community Centre crafting up a storm! It was a most creative day at Creekside, also at the Centre was Portobello West, an amazing market featuring loads of talented artists, designers, and makers.  We were busy making bike pendants, and flashy bike licenses for the big ride out.

Make sure to get your art into Papergirl by the 18th of July and you can be part of the movement.

June is Bike Month!

Woohoo! The nice weather is here just in time, so break out those helmets and horns and let's hop on our bikes for a beautiful ride! The seawall is a great place to take a long trip and no crosswalks and cars to hassle you or slow you down :) The whole city is celebrating and if you are keen to find out what's going on check out this link to find out where and when the fun is happening near you. Maybe one of those bike trips might even give you some inspiration for an art submission? A sunset or the ocean, a beautiful face or a scene just begging to be photographed! Or maybe you just wanna make some bicycle art? You know, draw a bike or decorate your bike and then take a photo? The sky is the limit here people!

Inspiration Alert!

This week the Sketchbook Project from Brooklyn, New York is coming to Vancouver for the very first time. It's a perfect opportunity to see some amazing art made by thousands of creative people from all around the world, who come from all walks of life and every skill set, much like the Papergirl project.

This travelling library will be setting up shop at W2 Media Cafe, located at 111 W. Hastings Street, Vancouver on Tuesday, May 15th & Wednesday, May 16th from 3-7pm and is FREE! If you're planning to attend, you may RSVP here.

When you visit the Sketchbook tour, you will be issued a library card, which you will use to "check out" the books. (Please note that none of the sketchbooks actually leave the building.) This tracking system allows organizers to then email the book's creator, to let them know their books has been viewed in Vancouver.

Want a sneak peek of what one completed Sketchbook actually looks like? Lelainia Lloyd, who is a member of our Papergirl team shot this short video flipping through her contribution for the 2012 tour.

So what are you waiting for? GO! Be inspired and then MAKE ART! & then send it to Papergirl!
